The body of pomfret is nearly round, flat and high; dorsal margin uplift. Body greenish brown, abdomen pale white; body side with 6 black brown bands; scales with black stripes. Each fin light brown. They are found in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans, and the largest species, the Atlantic pomfret, Brama brama, grows up to 1 m (3.3 ft) long. Fish meat is white in color. Our country is only produced in the South China Sea, especially in the coastal areas of Guangdong. Spawning period from 5 to June. A warm water fish that inhabits rocky or coral reefs.
